Money Scams

You work hard for your money. Do not fall for phone calls or letters that say you have money coming to you even if they appear to be from the IRS, Your bank, any company with whom you have a credit card or any company with whom you have any relationship. Each of these already has your personal information. Anytime you receive a phone call or letter that requests information or payment call first with a number that you already have in your files. Never, absolutely never provide any information to someone you do not know.

Locking your credit is easy and convenient. You’ll need to contact the 3 major credit bureaus separately and provide your PIN, password, and other personal information to verify your identity. You'll be able to lock and unlock your credit via mail or phone at your convenience. Locking your credit is a simple and smart way to prevent fraud and identity theft. You will have to unlock your credit if you want to apply for a credit card, loan, or job. For a future employer find out when they need to access your accounts at each of the bureaus and unlock your accounts just long enough for them to verify the information. The same would hold true if you need to rent a house in our apartment and the landlord wants to verify your credit.
