Websites Vary Prices, Deals Based on Users' Information

It was the same Swingline stapler, on the same website. But for Kim Wamble, the price was $15.79, while the price on Trude Frizzell's screen, just a few miles away, was $14.29.
A key difference: where Staples seemed to think they were located.
A Wall Street Journal investigation found that the Staples Inc. website displays different prices to people after estimating their locations. More than that, Staples appeared to consider the person's distance from a rival brick-and-mortar store, either OfficeMax Inc.or Office Depot Inc. ODP 1.23% If rival stores were within 20 miles or so, usually showed a discounted price.

Know Where to Check for Skin Cancer

Exposure to ultraviolet light—sunlight and tanning beds—is the main risk factor for skin cancer. Basal cell and squamous cell cancers are the most common types and are related to UV exposure adding up over the years. Melanoma—the deadliest form—is more strongly related to intense exposure and sunburn. Melanoma can occur anywhere on the skin, not just the sunburned area. Always check your whole body for changes in your skin, especially moles, but here are the most common skin cancer sites.

Lego Land Virtual Roller Coaster Malaysia

Screams of terror pierced the air as I made my way up the steps to what used to be the terrifying Project X roller coaster. Legoland Malaysia, together with Merlin Magic Making, had given it a tech makeover: It's now the ostensibly less intimidating Great Lego Race. Still, I was nervous.
The Great Lego Race marries virtual reality and good old roller coaster thrills, then adds a dash of Lego fun. Riders zoom into a world made entirely of Lego bricks, where they careen aboard a Lego car and race Lego characters. The Malaysian theme park will be the first to launch the experience, later this month, followed by its resorts in Florida and Germany next year.
VR roller coasters aren't new. Last March, England's Alton Towers theme park opened the world's first such attraction, the Galactica. But previous rides have been targeted at an older crowd and at roller coaster enthusiasts. The Great Lego Race, on the other hand, is aimed at kids, perhaps Lego's biggest fans.

TNR Program

TNR was brought to the United sttes from Europe and the United Kingdom in the late 80s. The practice of TNR grew rapidly in the 90s when Alley Cat Allies began rpviding information and assistance to people caring for feral cats who recognized that ther numbers must be controlled and reduced through sterilization. In communities where TNR is widely embraced, feral cat numbers have dropped.

TNR programs operate largely or entirely through the dedicated efforts of committed volunteers. TNR works because it breaks the cycle of reproduction. In general, the cost of sterilizing and returning a feral cat is less than have the cost of trapping, holding, killing and disposing of a feral cat. TNR protects public health and advances the goal of reducing the numbers of feral cats in the environment. The public supports humane, nonlethal TNR as the long-term solution to feral cat overpopulation.

Artificial Anatomy - People have always sought better ways to illustrate and understand the structure and functions of the internal body. Before the discovery of x-rays in 1895, the only practical way to see inside the human body was to observe an operation or a dissection. Cultural and religious beliefs about dissection often made the practice illegal, and even when dissection was acceptable, cadavers were difficult to obtain.  Moreover, lack of refrigeration meant that bodies decayed swiftly. Dissections had to be performed during the cooler months, and were impossible in warmer climates. Frustrated in his studies, a young French medical student devised an elegant solution—papier-mâché anatomical models.

Compassion & Choices is the nation’s oldest, largest and most active nonprofit organization committed to improving care and expanding choice at the end of life
Across the nation, we work to protect and expand end-of-life options — and to ensure
healthcare providers honor and enable patients’ decisions about their care. To make this vision a reality, Compassion & Choices works nationwide in state legislatures, Congress, courts, medical settings and communities to:
  • empower people with information and tools, including our free consultation program, to receive healthcare that is consistent with their values and priorities as they approach the end of life,.
  • advance policies that allow people to make fully informed decisions about their healthcare, such as improving hospice and palliative care and ending unwanted medical treatment.
  • authorize and implement medical aid in dying to allow mentally capable adults in their final weeks or months of a terminal disease to advance the time of death and end unbearable suffering.
It’s our belief — and our experience for the past 30 years — that the path to change starts with individual supporters.Learn more. Read or download About Compassion & Choices, a concise overview of our mission and current areas of work.

"The Birth of Our Nation's Flag" by Charles H. Weisgerber

Copyright © 1996-2010 by the Independence Hall Association

Many women have been honored for their legendary patriotism. Women such as Betsy Ross (1752-1836) symbolize women’s contribution to the American Revolution and founding of the new nation.

In 1870, Betsy Ross’ grandson told the Pennsylvania Historical Society an important story his grandmother had told him. Betsy, a well-known seamstress in Philadelphia, claimed that General George Washington and two congressional representatives visited her in June 1776. They asked her to make a flag based on their drawings. Betsy agreed, although she recommended a five-point star as opposed to the six-point stars on the sketch. Although this story has no factual record, the flag Betsy made continues to be one of the most beloved versions of the American flag.

Betsy was an ardent patriot during the Revolution and her story represents the many people that rose to the cause and used their skills in support of their country.

The story of this event was commemorated in Charles H. Weisgerber’s painting Birth of Our Nation’s Flag, first exhibited at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The success of this painting greatly increased interest in the American Flag House and the Betsy Ross Memorial Association. The image serves as the basis for the 3-cent Betsy Ross stamp.

From a very early age, my parents instilled in me the importance of God’s word, the salvation we have in His Son Jesus and the responsibility we have to give back to others. That’s why in 2010, I was so excited to create the Tim Tebow Foundation with a mission to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.
This foundation, and all of our outreach initiatives, were primarily created to show God’s love to children around the world. I encourage you to explore this site and see how we have been able to accomplish our mission through God’s blessings and the support of our generous donors and partners.
We hope that you will consider joining our team through prayer and financial support. Together we WILL make a difference!
God Bless,

Do you feel a calling to bring overnight respite care to families in your area?
You can help change the face of disability ministry. We are a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to providing support for families (without regard to race, religion or ethnicity) raising children who have special needs through short-term overnight care and activities allowing respite for their families. We want to change the face of disability ministry in America so that each family of a special child has respite within reach and access to a church that embraces them.
Why? Respite: Restored and Better Equipped
The parents, caregivers and siblings of these special children are extraordinary human beings. They face the same day-to-day struggles as most with the added concern, dedication, stress and exhaustion that comes with raising a child with special needs.
Overnight respite allows parents to:
-Take time away and focus on their marriages.
-Devote more time to typical siblings.
-Continue their education to improve their family’s quality of life.
-Get ahead on work.
-Catch up with old friends.
-Best of all, let go and release any guilt or fear, because they know their child is happy and safe.
